BIOGRAPHY
Myrna Meeroff has been acclaimed by
critics for her "gorgeously warm sound, rich with color." In 2002, Ms.
Meeroff became the first instrumental winner of the Rising Star
Competition.
This season’s highlights include her
Carnegie Hall debut in the Spring, a performance of her transcription
of the Atterberg Concert for Horn with the Broward symphony, and a
return to her native soil to give the world premier of “Canciones for
Horn” by Paul Basler in the Teatro Colon in Buenos Aires.
Ms. Meeroff made her solo debut in
1989 performing Mozart's Horn Concerto No. 4. An avid soloist, she has
performed for audiences all over the world, including Germany, France,
Switzerland, Argentina, The Bahamas, Jamaica, and Israel. Myrna
performs frequently as the guest artist with symphonic bands all over
the world. Her transcriptions for solo horn and band are available at
Thompson Edition.
Ms. Meeroff has a Bachelor of Music
degree from the University of Miami and a Master of Arts in Music
degree from Florida Atlantic University. Ms. Meeroff is a faculty
member at Broward Community College. In 2004 she was appointed
Artist-In–Residence at the BAK School of the Arts in West Palm Beach.
Ms. Meeroff is currently associate
principal horn of the Florida Classical Orchestra. After winning her
first job at the age of eighteen, she quickly earned a position with
the New World Symphony. She has played with the Florida Philharmonic,
Florida Grand Opera, Palm Beach Opera, Miami Symphony, and the Florida
West Coast Symphony.
To continue her commitment to chamber
music in the schools she formed the ensemble Combinations. This
multifaceted ensemble performs concerts for children of all ages using
various groupings of instruments, multimedia, and other art forms such
as dance, vocal music, and theater.
Myrna is originally from
Buenos Aires, Argentina. She regularly performs her native music, the
tango, both in instrumental, vocal, and dance form. |
